M3 x 6mm is a workhorse size for makers: 3D printer frames and resin vat film, Eurorack and synth module panels, guitar pedal enclosures and XLR connector shells. It is long enough to pass through a thin panel or bracket and still engage several threads.

Printed parts and thin aluminium panels vary in thickness, so measure the stack you are clamping and leave at least three full threads of engagement below it. If your part uses a 6-32 thread instead of M3, these will not fit; test with a known M3 screw first. Measure an old screw with calipers: the thread diameter gives the M number and the length gives the second figure. On a countersunk head the length is measured overall, head included; on a flat-bottomed head it is measured from under the head to the tip.
