M2 x 5mm Screws

M2 x 5mm screws combine the common 2 mm thread with a 5 mm length, enough to pass through a cover or plate and still bite fully into the boss below. Typical uses are laptop bottom cases, custom and split keyboards built on heat-set inserts, keyboard stabilizers and desktop motherboard M.2 slots.

For heat-set inserts, check the insert depth: the screw should be a little shorter than the plate thickness plus the insert so it does not bottom out. Measure an old screw with calipers: the thread diameter gives the M number and the length gives the second figure. On a countersunk head the length is measured overall, head included; on a flat-bottomed head it is measured from under the head to the tip.
