HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor screw size

M3 / M4 · 3 to 10 mm long

Our records put HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor on M3 and M4 screws in lengths from 3 to 10 mm.

There are 5 separate fitment records for it, including internal chassis frame machine screws (14) (M3), interface and power board pan-head screws (10) (M3) and small bracket retention screws (2) (M3), plus 2 more in the table below.

Head and drive, as the sources state them: pan head.

5 of the 5 records are marked confirmed, drawn from 1 source (HP E24d/E27d G4 Maintenance and Service Guide).

For reference, M3 is 3 mm across the threads at 0.5 mm pitch. The imperial size people confuse it with: #5-40 (3.18 mm) or #4-40 — neither interchanges with M3.

How to check the screw before you buy

  1. VESA holes are threaded inserts in the back cover; if a screw stops early, back it out rather than forcing it, because a bottomed-out screw can crack the panel housing.
  2. Diameter: across the threads an M3 screw measures about 3 mm with calipers (usually a hair under). This device also uses M4, so measure each screw rather than assuming they match.
  3. Pitch: 0.5 mm from one thread crest to the next (20 crests per centimetre). A thread pitch gauge or the pitch-gauge tool settles it in seconds.
  4. Length: for pan head screws, measure from under the head to the tip (countersunk heads are the exception: they are measured overall).
  5. The records span 3–10 mm, which means different positions take different lengths — match each hole to its own screw.
  6. Driver: the source does not name the drive. Standard M3 heads take PH1 for Phillips and T10 for Torx, and a 2.5 mm hex key for socket heads; a bit that fits loosely will cam out and strip the head.
  7. Tightening: no device-specific torque is published in these records. The site's general figure for M3 is about 80-130 N·cm into metal threads and 35-60 N·cm into plastic bosses; snug it up and stop.

Common mix-ups with M3 / M4

  • Power-tool gearcase and clamshell screws are usually thread-forming (marked "ST") even when the parts list gives an M-size — a normal machine screw of the same size may not hold in the plastic boss.
  • Many gas-detector and sensor manuals only give a torque spec (e.g. '0.5 N·m max') without repeating the thread size at every mention — the explicit M3 callout is usually only in the accessories/spare-parts table, not the main installation steps.
  • Festo sensor brackets are named after the sensor interface (DASP-M4-...), but the bracket's own fixing screws are often a different size (M5/M6/M8).
  • Some rackmount KVM switch kits pair M4x10 bracket-to-rack screws with M3.2x4.5 bracket-to-chassis screws (non-standard M3.2, not a true M3), so kits are not fully interchangeable with generic M3/M4 hardware.

Questions about HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor screws

What size screw does HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor use?
M3 × 3 mm for internal chassis frame machine screws (14); M3 × 6 mm for interface and power board pan-head screws (10); M3 × 4 mm for small bracket retention screws (2); M4 × 10 mm for back cover / main housing screws (4); M4 × 9 mm for power washer screw, ground / power board.
How long are the screws in HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor?
The records range from 3 to 10 mm depending on the position, so match each screw to its own hole.
What is the thread pitch of an M3 screw?
0.5 mm (coarse), which is the standard pitch for M3 machine screws; a 0.35 mm fine pitch exists but is uncommon. The tap drill is 2.5 mm and the normal clearance hole is 3.4 mm.
What screwdriver do I need for HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor?
The sources do not name the drive. For M3, Phillips heads normally take PH1 and Torx heads T10; socket heads take a 2.5 mm hex key.
Can I use an imperial screw instead of M3?
No. Imperial look-alike: #5-40 (3.18 mm) or #4-40 — neither interchanges with M3. Use a true M3 screw so it does not cross-thread or strip the hole.
Where can I buy replacement screws for HP E24d G4 / E27d G4 monitor?
TechSpareWarehouse (our own store) lists M3 x 3mm, M3 x 6mm and M3 x 4mm, which match lengths in the records above.
