Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate screw size

M5 · length not stated in the sources

Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate takes M5 metric screws. None of the sources we found gives an exact length, so measure the original before you order.

Where it is used: two or four M5 screws, torque 1.56-1.96 Nm.

This entry is marked confirmed and comes from literature.rockwellautomation.com.

For reference, M5 is 5 mm across the threads at 0.8 mm pitch. The imperial size people confuse it with: #10-32 (4.83 mm) — the other common rack thread; check before mixing.

How to check the screw before you buy

  1. If several screws hold the same part, check that they are all the same length before assuming they are.
  2. Diameter: across the threads an M5 screw measures about 5 mm with calipers (usually a hair under). If yours measures noticeably more or less, it is a different thread.
  3. Pitch: 0.8 mm from one thread crest to the next (12.5 crests per centimetre). A thread pitch gauge or the pitch-gauge tool settles it in seconds.
  4. Length: measure from under the head to the tip for pan, button, wafer and cap heads; countersunk (flat) heads are measured overall.
  5. Driver: the source does not name the drive. Standard M5 heads take PH2 for Phillips and T25 for Torx, and a 4 mm hex key for socket heads; a bit that fits loosely will cam out and strip the head.

Common mix-ups with M5

  • Carbon bosses strip easily: 2-4 Nm torque and the right length so the bolt doesn't bottom out.
  • M5x0.8 is the de facto universal bike thread — confirm 0.8mm pitch before threading into carbon or alloy bosses.

Questions about Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate screws

What size screw does Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate use?
M5 for two or four M5 screws, torque 1.56-1.96 Nm.
How long are the screws in Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate?
None of the sources states a length. Remove one screw and measure it from under the head to the tip (overall for a countersunk head).
What is the thread pitch of an M5 screw?
0.8 mm (coarse), which is the standard pitch for M5 machine screws; a 0.5 mm fine pitch exists but is uncommon. The tap drill is 4.2 mm and the normal clearance hole is 5.5 mm.
What screwdriver do I need for Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate?
The sources do not name the drive. For M5, Phillips heads normally take PH2 and Torx heads T25; socket heads take a 4 mm hex key.
Can I use an imperial screw instead of M5?
No. Imperial look-alike: #10-32 (4.83 mm) — the other common rack thread; check before mixing. Use a true M5 screw so it does not cross-thread or strip the hole.
How tight should the M5 screw on Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 520-series mounting adapter plate be?
The source gives 1.56-1.96 Nm for two or four M5 screws, torque 1.56-1.96 Nm.
